January 2025: New Edmond J. Safra member: Dr. David Amar
Dr. David Amar is a faculty member in the Blavatnik School of Computer Science & AI, and in the Dept. of Human Genetics & Biochemistry, the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, and is joining the Edmond J. Safra Center as a member.
Dr. David Amar is a faculty member in the Blavatnik School of Computer Science & AI, and in the Dept. of Human Genetics & Biochemistry, the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, and is joining the Edmond J. Safra Center as a member.
Dr. Amar received his PhD in bioinformatics under the supervision of Prof. Ron Shamir, Edmond J. Safra member (Computer Science). He then pursued a postdoctoral position at Stanford University with Prof. Euan Ashley and Prof. Manuel Rivas. During his time at Stanford, he also held industry roles, including a position as a data scientist at insitro.
Dr. Amar's research focuses on applications of clinical machine learning, statistical genetics, causal inference, and the molecular biology of physical activity.
