Edmond J. Safra Center & Sheba Medical Center - Joint Grants Call

The Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics aims to promote excellence in clinical bioinformatics research by bringing together bioinformatics scientists and clinicians. This year, the Center, partnering with the Cancer Center at Sheba Medical Center (SMC), published a call for grants with the intention to provide, for the first time, seed research grants to support fundamental and translational collaborative research that combines novel computational techniques and clinical applications. The grants are for the amount of 20,000 USD each.

Each submitted proposal was competitively and anonymously reviewed by four TAU and SMC researchers. Final decisions were made by the grant committee of Prof. Noam Shomron (TAU) and Dr. Talia Golan (SMC).

 

We are excited to announce the awardees:

 

Irit Gat-Viks (Life Sciences Faculty, TAU) and

Jair Bar (Sheba Medical Center)

Research title: "Elucidation of optimal immunotherapy regimen for advanced NSCLC "

 

Ron Shamir (School of Computer Science, TAU) and

Ben Boursi (Sheba Medical Center)

Research title: "Early detection of cancer using electronic medical records of healthy individuals"

 

Roded Sharan (School of Computer Science, TAU) and

Oren Pleniceanu (Sheba Medical Center)

Research title: "Urinary somatic mutational signatures as a novel tool for renal cell carcinoma diagnosis"
