Congratulations to Tal Ben-Yishay, Edmond J. Safra PhD student fellow who has been selected as a recipient of the 8th Esther and Zvi Weinstat Memorial Graduate Student Award in recognition of his outstanding research achievements in cancer biology.
Tal Ben-Yishay, Edmond J. Safra PhD student fellow (Shamir lab, Computer Science & AI), has been selected as a recipient of the 8th Esther and Zvi Weinstat Memorial Graduate Student Award in recognition of his outstanding research achievements in cancer biology.
The award is presented by the Cancer Biology Research Center (CBRC) at TAU. This year, the CBRC invited proposals from PhD students conducting cancer-related research across TAU and its affiliated medical centers. Following a competitive review process, several outstanding projects were selected for recognition by the CBRC committee.
Tal received the award for his research titled "Characterization and algorithmic detection of chromothripsis in human cancer cell lines". His work combines computational methods and cancer biology to advance the understanding of chromothripsis, a complex genomic phenomenon associated with cancer development and progression.
The award recipients presented their research at a special scientific event on September 2, 2026, at the Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, TAU.
Congratulations!
