TAU-Clalit MOONSHOT-MED – A Call for Joint Research Proposals
The Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics and Clalit Health Services have announced a new joint call for grant proposals.
Background: Two years ago, Tel Aviv University (TAU), Clalit Health Services (Clalit), and the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics established MOONSHOT-MED, a joint program for multidisciplinary research in computational healthcare. The program aimed to bring together TAU’s expertise in bioinformatics, big data, and AI with Clalit’s clinical expertise and extensive health data. Following a rigorous review process, four grants were awarded to projects led jointly by TAU principal investigators and Clalit clinicians. See the info below.
Following a successful joint symposium held at TAU on October 15, 2026, The Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics and Clalit Health Services were excited to announce the new joint call for grant proposals for data-driven, groundbreaking research collaborations in clinical bioinformatics, computational healthcare, and EMR analysis.
The new grant cycle aims to support collaborative efforts that bring together computational researchers from the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics and clinicians affiliated with Clalit Health Services.
Successful projects are expected to have a transformative scientific impact, significantly advance understanding of disease states and/or treatment approaches, and have the potential to drive real breakthroughs in medicine.

Tel Aviv University (TAU) and Clalit Health Services (Clalit) have recently established a joint research program - MOONSHOT-MED.
This program, in collaboration with the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at TAU, aims to encourage, fund, and support innovative multidisciplinary and groundbreaking biomedical research, harnessing the multidisciplinary research expertise at TAU, and the clinical knowledge and extensive medical and health data available at Clalit.
Following the successful joint kickoff symposium that took place on May 9 2024, we were excited to announce a Call for Joint TAU-Clalit Research Grants, providing several research grants.
The grants will support data-focused and groundbreaking research collaborations between clinicians and basic research scientists from TAU and Clalit.
Winning projects will be awarded funds from the joint research program and get access to relevant data from Clalit.
