June 2026: New Edmond J. Safra affiliate: Prof. Amit Tirosh

Prof. Amit Tirosh is a faculty member in the Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences and is joining the Edmond J. Safra Center as an affiliate.

Prof. Tirosh received his MD in 2007 from Hadassah Medical School, trained in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, and completed postdoctoral research at the NIH (NICHD and NCI, 2015–2018). He heads the Neuroendocrine Oncology Unit at Sheba Medical Center and has established and directs the Endocrine Neoplasia Research Center there.

His current research focuses on the biology of pseudohypoxic neuroendocrine tumors, driven by germline or somatic disruption of the VHL/SDHx/HIF axis in PPGL and pancreatic NETs. Using single-cell transcriptomics, metabolomics, and both in vitro and in vivo models, his lab has recently identified the adenosine pathway and Netrin–DCC signaling as novel, druggable vulnerabilities in these tumors.
