July 2026: Bamberger awarded the 2026 Foulkes Foundation Fellowship

Congratulations to Tal Bamberger, Edmond J. Safra MD-PhD fellow (Borenstein's lab, Medical & Health Sciences), on being awarded the prestigious Foulkes Foundation Fellowship for 2026.

Established in 1972 in London, the Foulkes Foundation supports outstanding MD-PhD students conducting life sciences research. The fellowship is awarded through the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities to medical students in Israel pursuing doctoral studies who have demonstrated excellence in research, including peer-reviewed publications.

Tal's research focuses on developing novel machine learning and artificial intelligence methods for integrating multi-omic microbiome data, enabling a systems-level understanding of host-microbiome interactions in health, disease, and aging. As part of her work, she develops computational frameworks that combine diverse biological data types to uncover mechanisms underlying microbiome function and improve disease prediction. She has also played a central role in the microbiome and multi-omic computational analyses of the Dog Aging Project, a large international initiative investigating the biological determinants of healthy aging through integrated microbiome and multi-omic profiling.
