January 2023: Naaman presents Scopio Labs in the Entrepreneurs Salon
The Edmond J. Safra Biomedical Informatics Entrepreneurs Salon took place on January 26 2023 with participants from academia and the industry gathering for in-person meeting.
The Edmond J. Safra Biomedical Informatics Entrepreneurs Salon took place on January 26 2023 with participants from academia and the industry gathering for in-person meeting.
Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra Center member, opened the event and introduced the speaker, Mr. Erez Naaman, Co-Founder & CTO of Scopio Labs.
Erez gave an exciting talk titled "Full-Field Cell Morphology - How computational photography and AI are changing diagnostics". He introduced the current challenges in medical imaging technologies, including, for example, the tradeoff between resolution and field of view, and explained how these challenges hinder and delay patients’ diagnosis. He then presented the technology developed by Scopio Labs, harnessing the power of computational photography and AI to image and analyze the morphology of cells at unprecedented scale. Using this technology, Scopio Labs now offers AI-based Decision Support System (DSS) for blood tests, providing laboratory professionals a highly efficient way to count and analyze thousands to millions of cells, instead of the hundreds usually counted in manual visual cell morphology analyses.
The Salon series, led by Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra Center member (Medicine), is a forum to promote entrepreneurship at the convergence of biology, medicine, and computing. It aims to create a meeting, interaction and networking forum for academics, industry, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists interested in joining together biology, medicine and computing. The series is a collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School and the BIES series.
