May 2026: Tuller awarded TAU Rector's prize for innovation and creativity in teaching with distinction

Congratulations to Prof. Tamir Tuller, Edmond J. Safra member (Engineering), who has been awarded the Rector's prize for innovation and creativity in teaching for the 2025-2026 academic year, receiving the honor with distinction.

The award recognizes outstanding teaching innovation across TAU. This year, 40 proposals were submitted from across the campus. From these, 10 winners were selected, including three distinguished laureates, whose teaching approaches demonstrated exceptional creativity and inspiration.

Prof. Tuller received the distinction for his course: "Project in synthetic biology, intracellular engineering, and iGEM".

The course features a unique, hands-on learning model that closely simulates the full lifecycle of a startup company. Students engage in a comprehensive experience that includes: selecting and refining an original idea, conducting complex scientific development, preparing and submitting a patent application, writing a business plan, fundraising, publishing a scientific paper and more.

The awards were presented by the TAU Rector and the Dean for Innovation in Teaching at the 4th conference on innovation and creativity in teaching, held on May 4, 2026, at TAU.
