March 2019: Edmond J. Safra Biomedical Informatics Entrepreneurs Salon

The second meeting of the Edmond J. Safra Biomedical Informatics Entrepreneurs Salon took place on March 24, 2019. Some 65 participants from industry and academia gathered in the Jaglom Auditorium at TAU. Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra Center member (Medicine) and Chair of the Salon organizing committee, introduced the speakers, Prof. Shai Shen-Orr of Technion and Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, CytoReason, and Dr. Yair Benita, Head Science Operations, CytoReason (Israel). The speakers gave an exciting talk titled "Biomedical informatics: replacing the mouse model in drug development", followed by questions and answers. After the talk, participants were invited to a reception and refreshments at the lobby, allowing interaction in an informal environment.

The Salon series is a new initiative of the Center, envisioned as a forum to promote entrepreneurship at the convergence of biology, medicine, and computing. It aims to create a meeting, interaction and networking forum for academics, industry, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists interested in joining together biology, medicine and computing. The series is a collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School and the BIES series
