The 2019 RNA Biology and Processing meeting was held on October 24 2019 at the School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.

 

The meeting, held in memory of Prof. Yossi Sperling, was partially sponsored by the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics. It was organized and chaired by eight researchers, including Edmond J. Safra members Profs. Gil Ast  (Medicine ), Martin Kupiec (Life Sciences) and Eli Eisenberg (Physics).

More than 250 participants attended the meeting, arriving from all the universities and research institutes. The long term aim of these meetings is to generate a vibrant Israeli RNA society in which students, postdocs and group leaders can consult each other and forge collaborations to advance their research.

 

The keynote speakers were Prof. Alberto Kornblihtt, University of Buenos Aires, and Prof. Chuan He, University of Chicago. Sixteen senior Israeli scientists presented their research and covered a wide range of topics. Eleven short talks were given by students and postdocs, and over 50 posters were presented and attracted a lot of attention.

 

Among the speakers were Edmond J. Safra PIs Profs. Gil Ast, Carmit Levy (Medicine) and Oded Rechavi (Life Sciences). Former Edmond J. Safra PhD fellow, Dr. Igor Ulitsky and Dr. Schraga Schwartz, both faculty members at Weizmann Institute, also gave talks.
