The 20th Israeli Bioinformatics Symposium (IBS2018) took place on October 7 2018 at the Technion. IBS is the main annual conference of the Israeli Bioinformatics community. The program included keynote talks by Prof. Bonnie Berger from MIT, Prof. Roy Kishony and Prof. Yael Mandel Gutfreund from the Technion, regular talks by bioinformatics faculty members, short talks by researchers in industry and a lively poster session.

The Edmond J. Safra Center supported the conference and also provided two prizes to students in the best poster competition. Two committee members of the Edmond J. Safra Young Researchers' Forum, Dana Azouri and Gal Dinstag, presented the prizes to the winners; Naama Messika-Gold, MSc student (Elkon's lab, Medicine) and Dina Svetlitsky, PhD student (Ben-Gurion University).

Another poster prize, in honor of the late HUJI bioinformatics student Eran Cohen, was awarded to E.J. Safra MSc fellow, Gal Dinstag (Shamir's lab, Computer Science), for his work titled "Personalized prioritization of cancer driver mutations".
