May 2024: Ben-David joins the Israel Young Academy

Prof. Uri Ben-David, Edmond J. Safra member (Medicine), was elected as a member of the Israel Young Academy.

The Israel Young Academy members are scientists of the humanities and exact sciences, under the age of 45, who have demonstrated excellence in research and original thinking, and who have won prestigious awards or grants.

Prof. Ben-David's research is focusing on a unique, understudied trait of cancer. Changes in the chromosomal composition of the cell, also known as aneuploidy, make for a fundamental difference between normal and cancer cells. Prof. Ben-David combines experimental and computational approaches to uncover the basic biology underlying this hallmark of cancer, track its origins and understand its cellular consequences. By doing so, he strives to expand our understanding of the genetic basis of cancer, and to make aneuploidy a therapeutic target for precision cancer medicine.
