Dr. Rotem Rubinstein completed his Ph.D. studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine under the supervision of Prof. Steve Almo and Prof. Andras Fiser. His studies have focused on receptor-ligand interactions regulating the immune response. As a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University, Dr. Rubinstein worked with Prof. Barry Honig on the molecular basis of neuronal self-avoidance, a process requiring neurons to discriminate between self and non-self.

Dr. Rubinstein's research is in computational structural biology. He studies the manner in which sequence and structure encode protein functions. His lab combines experimental tools and computational method development to study cell surface protein interactions, protein assemblies, and signal transduction. Dr. Rubinstein is particularly interested in protein-protein interactions that underlie important biological phenomena in the nervous and immune systems.
