June 2019: new Edmond J. Safra member: Prof. Malka Gorfine

Prof. Malka Gorfine (Dept. of Statistics and Operations Research, School of Mathematical Sciences) has joined the Edmond J. Safra Center as a Member.

Prof. Gorfine received her PhD in Statistics from the Hebrew University, and later held a two-year staff scientist position at the Division of Public Health Sciences, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), Seattle, USA. Since 2013, she is an Affiliate Faculty at FHCRC. In 2001 she joined Bar Ilan University, in 2005 moved to the Technion, and since 2014 she is in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at TAU. She was promoted to Professor in 2016. 
 
 
Prof. Gorfine's main research interests are in disease risk estimation and prediction using candidate genes and environmental risk factors, statistical genetics, contaminated covariates, univariate and multivariate survival models, frailty models, (semi) competing risks models, mixed effect models, non-parametric tests of associations, and applications to clinical research.
