A new study led by Prof. Karen Avraham, Edmond J. Safra member (Medicine) in cooperation with Israeli and international colleagues, identified 25 new genes responsible for inherited hearing loss in Israeli Jewish families, and discovered a new deafness gene. The study was recently published in the journal Clinical Genetics. These results have immediate implications for genetic counseling for families with hearing loss and for care of children with hearing loss.
