November 2020: ERC grant to Berman
Prof. Judith Berman, Edmond J. Safra member (Life Sciences), and colleagues won the European Research Council (ERC) Synergy Grant.
Prof. Judith Berman, Edmond J. Safra member (Life Sciences), and colleagues won the European Research Council (ERC) Synergy Grant, one of the most prominent European research grants for collaborative research. The grant total of € 9.7 million was given to TAU and Charité – Hospital University, Berlin.
The research is led jointly by Prof. Berman and Prof. Dr. Markus Ralser, director of the Institute of Biochemistry at Charité University, Berlin. They will investigate the biological mechanisms that allow tolerance of fungal pathogens. The aim of the study is to develop antifungal drugs and combined therapies that will be effective against life-threatening invasive fungal infections. The two leading researchers will collaborate also with clinicians and biologists across Europe, Canada and the United States.
