March 2024: Nachman promoted to Associate Professor

Congratulations to Prof. Iftach Nachman, Edmond J. Safra member (Life Sciences), who was promoted to Associate Professor.

Prof. Iftach Nachman holds a position with tenure in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Life Sciences. The associate professor rank is effective as of March 2023.

Prof. Nachman's research focuses on understanding early developmental cell fate decisions and patterning using embryonic stem cell-based in-vitro models of early development. The goal is to understand how cells within a population reach developmental decisions at the phenotypic and mechanistic level. How do cells “decide” to change their state? Why do similar cells respond differently to the same signal? What properties of the cell affect its decision? What determines these properties and their spread in the cell population? What determines which cell states are stable? Nachman's lab studies these fundamental questions in two model systems using methods from live cell fluorescent imaging, statistical and computational analysis.
