September 2020: Golan’s Viz.ai granted Medicare reimbursement approval

Viz.ai company, co-founded by Dr. David Golan, former Edmond J. Safra PhD fellow (Rosset lab, Statistics), developed an AI software that reads CT scans, detects a stroke and alerts the medical staff. The technology shortens the time to treatment and contributes to minimizing the physical damage as a result of a stroke.

 

The Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot reported on September 7 that the technology, which is already installed in 500 hospitals in the US, has just received Medicare approval to allow US hospitals reimbursement for the use of the technology. This is the first time where US  legislation allows hospitals to receive reimbursement for using AI-based software. This paves the way for the company to implement its technology across the USA.
