A kick-start event to establish new TAU start-ups, organized by Ramot Tel Aviv University and AION-Labs, took place on May 8 2024 at TAU.
Ramot is the Business Engagement Center at Tel Aviv University. Its goal is to foster, initiate, lead and manage the transfer of new technologies developed by TAU researchers from the lab to the marketplace.
AION Labs is a venture studio comprised of eight global pharma, tech and innovation companies & investors that have come together to create and adopt AI technologies that will transform the process of drug discovery and development for the betterment of human health.
The event, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences at TAU, and the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics, commenced with welcoming remarks from Ms. Keren Primor Cohen, CEO, Ramot, Prof. Karen Avraham, Dean, the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences at TAU and Edmond J. Safra member, Prof. Elhanan Borenstein, Head, Edmond J. Safra Center, and Mr. Mati Gill, CEO, AION Labs. It was followed by a presentation of the program by Dr. Yair Benita, CTO, and Dr. Sharon Kredo-Russo, VP Ideation, AION labs.
In the second part of the event, TAU researchers were invited to present projects and get feedback from AION-Labs representatives, while entrepreneurs and industry representatives were invited to round tables with Ramot's business development team to discuss ways of further cooperation.
TAU projects that will eventually join the Ramot-AION-Labs program will receive funding of at least one million dollars each, infrastructure, data, direct connection and traineeship with R&D experts from leading pharmaceutical companies, as well as financial and administrative support, accompanying in recruiting investors, data from partners, mentoring, scientific and business accompaniment and investor relations.
