October 2023: New clinical bioinformatics course in Medicine Faculty
A new course in clinical bioinformatics will be starting this Fall in the Faculty of Medicine.
A new course in clinical bioinformatics will be starting this Fall in the Faculty of Medicine.
The course was developed by Prof. Rani Elkon, Edmond J. Safra member (Medicine) and by Prof. Lina Basel-Salmon (Medicine Faculty and Rabin Medical Center).
The course titled "Clinical bioinformatics: A key in the implementation of Genomic Medicine" aims to promote clinical bioinformatics and interactions between TAU researchers and hospitals.
The course, opened for MSc and PhD students, is focusing on clinical genomics designed for students interested in the application of bioinformatics methodologies for the analysis of genomic data aiming to identify genetic variations causative of patients’ symptoms in the clinical setting.
The course provides an overview of the genomic sequencing technologies, the main analytical tasks, state-of-the-art tools for variant calling and variant annotation, as well as best practices for clinical diagnostic purposes.
The Edmond J. Safra Center supports this course and provides resources to the course TA, Eleina England, Edmond J. Safra PhD student fellow (Elkon lab, Medicine).
