Artem Danilevsky and Amit Levon, Edmond J. Safra PhD student fellows, and Gilad Harel, Edmond J. Safra MSc student fellow, all from Prof. Noam Shomron’s lab (Medicine), won first place, together with two other groups, for their project PlasmAI at the Demo Day – part of the jumpTAU accelerator program at TAU's Entrepreneurship Center. The team included also an undergraduate student, Inbar Kadouri, from Industrial Engineering and Management.
The project PlasmAI - an accurate and cost effective blood test for early detection of pancreatic cancer - offers an AI-based liquid biopsy technology designed to detect pancreatic cancer at its earliest stages. Unlike other liquid biopsy methods that focus on specific biomarkers, PlasmAI utilizes the entire information range of the DNA characteristics in blood, which enhances detection and reduces cost significantly. A patent application was submitted. The method has been validated on different populations, achieving specificity of 95%, and further development and collaboration is ongoing with the largest health centers in Israel (Hadassah, Sheba, Beilinson, Clalit).
The Demo Day event included 11 ventures from different fields across TAU.
During the event, student entrepreneurs shared their innovative projects and the journey they experienced throughout the program, where they received professional tools and guidance with personal mentorship from leaders in the entrepreneurship world. At the event, the entrepreneurs presented the final outcomes of their ventures to a panel of judges from the high-tech and venture capital industries, who provided valuable feedback. After the presentations, the judges' scores were announced and PlasmAI got the top scores tied with two other groups.
Congratulations!
