January 2024: Ebenstein awarded ERC PoC grant

Prof. Yuval Ebenstein, Edmond J. Safra affiliate (Chemistry), won the European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept Grant (PoC), one of the most prominent European research grants for collaborative research.
The grant total of 150,000 Euros intends to bridge the gap between the results of the basic research and the early phases of its commercialization. The ERC PoC grants are awarded only to researchers who have already won ERC grants in the past.
Prof. Yuval Ebenstein research focuses on sleep and spontaneous brain activity and their relationship to cognition and brain health. The new grant focuses on a new method for identifying "interictal" activity during sleep - abnormal electrical activity that occurs in epilepsy patients between seizures, as well as in other neuropsychiatric diseases such as Alzheimer's, autism, and after brain injury. This identification can improve the diagnosis of diseases and the monitoring of the effectiveness of drug treatment.
