In a new study led by Prof. Oded Rechavi, Edmond J. Safra affiliate (Life Sciences) and colleagues, the team discovered that certain traits can be inherited from parents to offspring without any direct interaction with DNA.
The research, published in Science Advances, uses a mechanism involving small RNA molecules that exist outside the cell nucleus, thereby challenging the notion that genetic information is solely enclosed within DNA molecules inside the cell nucleus.
