The “Precision Medicine World Conference” (PMWC) was held on January 21-24, 2020 in Santa Clara, CA.  Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra member (Medicine) gave a talk in the conference and led a panel discussing how to bring NGS developments to the clinic. Attending this one-hour session were Prof. David Haussler from UCSC, Dr. Luca Quagliata, VP at Thermo Fisher, Dr. Hans Cobben from BlueBee, Dr. Mark Van Oene, VP at Illumina, and Dr. Lou Welebob, VP at Agilent Tech. The discussion span the new technologies coming out of the labs, the large data accumulated and how to share it, and finally, how to bring these advances to clinical use by educating the physicians.

In addition, The Koret-Berkeley-TAU (KBT) initiative in computational biology and bioinformatics, has teamed this year with PMWC to encourage participation of fellows and alumni from both universities. On January 22nd ten Bioinformatics Postdocs and Graduate students from Berkeley and TAU joined a networking dinner chaired by Prof. Shomron. During the event, the participants presented their lab work, their overall goals, and their future plans.

PMWC is one of the largest Personalized Medicine events carried out annually. It brings around 2,500 participants, who are leaders, top global researchers, medical professionals, and innovators across healthcare and biotechnology sectors. The event promotes cross-fertilization and collaboration to accelerate Precision Medicine.
