August 2023: Obolski and Shomron awarded Clalit ROMAH prize

Dr. Uri Obolski, Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra members (Medicine), and their colleagues, Dr. Aviv Tuttnauer, Dr. Dor Atias, and Orly Reznik, won the Clalit Innovation prize for outstanding research in the ROMAH program.

ROMAH program aims to promote data driven research in Clalit Health Services, in collaboration with experts in epidemiology, statistics, machine learning, and data science from Clalit Health Services and from academia.

The researchers won the prize for their joint research titled "Opioid trends and sustained use among children and adolescents in Israel: a retrospective study". This research is the first to describe trends in opioid use over the years and risk factors for sustained use among children and adolescents. Findings from this research may help clinicians to identify children and adolescents at risk of sustained opioid use, and to more carefully monitor such users.
