October 2023: New Edmond J. Safra member: Dr. Jérôme Tubiana

Dr. Jérôme Tubiana is a new faculty member in the School of Computer Science and is joining the Edmond J. Safra Center as a member.

Dr. Tubiana received his PhD in Statistical Physics in 2018 from l'Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris, France), where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Rémi Monasson and Simona Cocco on physics-inspired machine learning for protein sequence analysis. He then joined the school of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University as an Edmond J. Safra and HFSP (Human Frontier Science Program Organization) postdoctoral fellow, working with Profs. Haim Wolfson, Edmond J. Safra member, and Dina Schneidman-Duhovny of the Hebrew University, on applications of deep learning for structural biology.

Dr. Tubiana’s main research interest is the development and application of machine learning algorithms for elucidating the relationship between the sequence, structure, function and evolution of proteins. Applications include large-scale analysis of protein databases, mutation analysis and protein design. In particular, he focuses on the development of geometric deep learning algorithms for structure-based function prediction.
