July 2024: First place to Baum and Meshulam for a project in Computer Science

A competition of undergraduate students' research projects took place on July 23, 2024 in the School of Computer Science (CS). Fifteen teams reached the final stage, and the students who developed the projects presented them and answered the judges' questions. The judges were CS faculty members and representatives from Microsoft, Intel and TAU's Entrepreneurship Center.

Two bioinformatics students won the first place prize for their joint research project, Shiri Baum, now Edmond J. Safra MSc fellow (Borenstein lab, CS) and Ido Meshulam, 3rd year student in the bioinformatics program. The prize was awarded for their project titled "Taxonomy-guided feature engineering for microbiome data". The research was performed under the supervision of Yadid Algavi, MD-PhD student, and Omri Peleg, Edmond J. Safra PhD fellow, both from Borenstein lab.

Congratulations!
