The First Meeting of the Israeli Society for Evolutionary Biology took place on December 11-12, 2019 in the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, TAU.

 

The Symposium brought together some 200 researchers and students of evolutionary biology from Israeli universities and five invited guests from abroad. The program included plenary talks and more than 70 talks and posters in three parallel sessions. The symposium marked the inauguration of the Israeli Society for Evolutionary Biology aiming to strengthen evolution research.

 

TAU had a major role in the event. The steering committee members included Profs. Tal Pupko, Edmond J. Safra member, Lilach Hadany (Life Sciences, TAU) and Ariel Chipman of the Hebrew University. The Edmond J. Safra Center was one of the event's sponsors.

 

The symposium was featured in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz and in a TV program on Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation channel.
