August 2023: Levy awarded ERC grant

Congratulations to Prof. Carmit Levy, Edmond J. Safra affiliate (Medicine), who won the European Research Council (ERC) Grant.

Prof. Levy is engaged in multidisciplinary research that focuses on the interactions between cancer cells and the microenvironment and the discovery of new targeting molecules that may interfere with the interaction between the host and the tumor. In her current research, Prof. Levy identified new factors that are secreted by the cancer cells and constitute a physical disturbance to the efficiency of the cells of the immune system during the tumor attack.  

Her new ERC Advanced  research grant  is aiming to reveal the mechanism of cancer and increase the effectiveness of the immune system and of existing drugs, especially in patients who do not respond to the treatments offered today. This is done by silencing the substances secreted by the cancer, using unique systems created in her research lab.
