Congratulations to Dr. Aldema Sas-Chen, Edmond J. Safra affiliate (Life Sciences) who won the FEBS Excellence Award.
The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) Excellence Award supports early-career group leaders in the FEBS area who have a scientific research track record of proven excellence. FEBS Excellence Awards provide funding of €100,000 over a 3-year period.
Dr. Sas-Chen studies RNA-based mechanisms of gene regulation and their effect on cellular outputs. A main interest of her lab is investigating the impact of chemical modifications of RNA molecules on shaping cellular processes in health and disease. The focus is on involvement of RNA modifications in cancer progression and metastasis formation and in mitochondrial diseases.
