July 2023: Kickoff meeting of Edmond J. Safra Center, Center for AI and Data Science, and Shaare Zedek Medical Center collaboration

A kickoff meeting of the planned collaboration between the Edmond J. Safra Center, the Center for AI & Data Science at TAU (TAD), and Shaare Zedek Medical Center (SZMC) took place on Wednesday July 5 in Shaare Zedek hospital.

The goal of the meeting was to bring together clinical and computational researchers, allowing them to introduce themselves and their research, to learn about possible research partners, and to start discussions about potential collaboration and grant submission.

The meeting was led by Prof. Dan Turner (CEO, Research & Development, SZMC) and Prof. Elhanan Borenstein (Head, Edmond J. Safra Center, TAU).

The meeting brought together some 40 clinical and computational researchers. It started with brief introductions of SZMC (by Prof. Turner), of the Edmond J. Safra Center (by Prof. Borenstein), and of TAD (by Prof. Tal Pupko, Edmond J. Safra member, Life Sciences). Each TAU participant, in turn, then introduced himself/herself and his/her research interests. Following these introductions, the TAU PIs were divided into three round tables and Prof. Turner invited the clinicians to join one of the three round tables according to their interests. The break was used for informal interactions and as an opportunity to create new contacts, and to start discussions about potential collaborations.

Prof. Borenstein concluded the meeting by announcing the Call for Clinical Bioinformatics and AI Research Grants that will allow funding of joint research proposals of TAU PIs and clinicians at SZMC.
