November 2018: Schwartz among "The Marker's" 10 promising young researchers
Dr. Schraga Schwartz, former Edmond J. Safra PhD fellow (Ast lab, Medicine), is listed as one of 10 promising young researchers chosen by the Israeli newspaper "The Marker".
According to the article, Dr. Schwartz decided about a year before completing his medical studies to focus on scientific research and did postdocs first at the Weizmann Institute and then at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. He has since joined the Weizmann as a faculty member, received the ERC grant from the European Union and a grant for outstanding young researchers from the European Association of Molecular Biology (EMBO).
Schwartz and his group focus on uncovering the basic building blocks of messenger RNA molecules, which are used to translate DNA-rich heredity information vital to cell function.
