May 2019: Abadi and Rabinowitz win best poster prizes in the annual Retreat

Edmond J. Safra PhD fellows Shiran Abadi (Mayrose lab, Life Sciences) and Tom Rabinowitz (Shomron lab, Medicine) won best poster prizes in the 14th Retreat of the Edmond J. Safra Center, which took place on May 26-27, 2019 in Maagan, Sea of Galilee.

The retreat is the annual get-together of the bioinformatics community at TAU, including faculty and students from all degrees. The program comprises scientific talks of invited speakers, PIs, and students, poster highlight sessions, lively poster sessions, a mixer of PIs and students, and informal social activities.

This year we had two poster sessions, with 57 posters from 15 different participating laboratories. All participants voted to select the best poster in each session.

Shiran won the prize in the morning session for "ModelTeller: A machine-learning approach for phylogenetic model selection". Tom won the prize in the evening session for "Noninvasive prenatal diagnosis using deep learning".
